Virtual Auctions – keeping scheduled events going

TSC’s techs pulled out the stops to cope with the effects of the pandemic last week, by swiftly moving an auction of an international Auctioneer from its normal venue due to lock-down, to the home of the lead Auctioneer.

TSC faced the key challenge of not having access to production or engineering staff at the new location and managing the live stream remotely. 

Technically, TSC engineers remotely handled the AV stream coming from the browser session of a laptop, ingested it with no noticeable latency into TSC’s cloud based vision mixing platform, and then pushed it to the live bidding platform via TSC’s Ultra Low latency CDN.

The result? - A superb, stable 7 hour live broadcast, streamed to many thousands of viewers on-line with the vast majority of lots sold. 

Stick to (a new) schedule?

In these uncertain times, the old norms are being ripped up, and a new workflows are required to keep businesses such as this moving forwards.  When we are able to get back to some sort of normality, the pure quantity of postponed events being crammed into a condensed period will create uncertain consequences.  Keeping to published schedules and for some, pitching to (very) captive audiences may be the preserve of very few niche businesses, but it’s well worth looking into.
